We encourage you to visit the Student page on the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics's website for additional information on careers, internships, certifications in food and nutrition, as well as scholarships and preparation aids for registration examinations.


If you are an active member of the Academy, have been an RDN for at least one year, have served as a preceptor or educator to dietetic students, and are currently working on an advanced degree or an additional certification, you meet the qualifications to apply for a $300 ALDA Leadership Scholarship.


Interested candidates please submit the following criteria to the Scholarship Chairman at leahgates@iammorrison.com by January 24, 2020:

  • Resume

  • ALDA Dietetic Association Nominee Form (eatrightalabama.org)

  • Transcripts (Master’s or Doctoral degree) or documentation of certification

  • Statement verifying preceptor or educator experience

  • 1 Letter of Recommendation from academic source

ALDA Outstanding Dietetic Student Award Nominations

Deadline:  January 24, 2020

Do you know of a dietetic student that demonstrates outstanding academic achievement, has a passion for the field of nutrition and dietetics, and actively serves others in the community? If so, please consider nominating a dietetic student for one of the following 3 state awards:


  • Outstanding Student in a Coordinated Program

  • Outstanding Student in a Didactic Program

  • Outstanding Dietetic Intern


All nominations are due Friday, January 24, 2020. Email the Scholarship Chairman, Leah Gates at leahgates@iammorrison.com, the completed submission paperwork. Below are the forms to complete:

Alabama Dietetic Association ($1000) - Juniors / Dietetics Majors.

Established in 1979, this scholarship is presented in honor of the outgoing Alabama State President. An award of $1000 is awarded yearly to an undergraduate, (Junior) dietetics students holding residence in Alabama. 

Alabama Memorial Scholarship ($500) - Graduate / Dietetics.

This scholarship fund was established in 1981. Each year the scholarship is named in memory or in honor of a person designated by the ALDA organization. The scholarship is funded through donations from ALDA and private individuals. Recipients must be admitted to or in present pursuit of a program of graduate study in dietetics or a related field in a regionally accredited college or university within Alabama.  The selection criteria are 1) professional potential; 2) academic achievement; 3) financial need.

  • Wood Fruitticher Grocery Co. ($1,000) - Seniors / Graduate (Full or Part-time) 

  • North Alabama District Dietetic Association ($500) - Alabama Dietetics Students/Interns 

  • Birmingham District Dietetic Association Scholarship ($500) - Graduate Student/Interns

  • MDDA Ken Wear Scholarship

  • Element Health Scholarship ($500) 

Scholarship and award recipients will be recognized during the Alabama Dietetic Association Meeting in Montgomery at the business luncheon.


Applications will be accepted until midnight on Friday January 24, 2020.
