Whether you are already a nutrition and dietetics student or you are exploring your options, we welcome you to the Alabama Dietetic Association (ALDA) website! This page includes education and scholarship opportunities available here in Alabama.


We encourage you to visit the Student page on the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics's website for additional information on careers, internships, certifications in food and nutrition, as well as scholarships and preparation aids for registration examinations.

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Applications are due February 28th, 2026.

CRITERIA FOR 2026 ALDA SCHOLARSHIPS

Alabama Memorial Scholarship Scholarship  - $500 (to be approved by ANDF)

ALDA welcomes donations to help fund this scholarship and to grow the program to help financially support additional ALDA scholarships.

Guidelines:

1. ALDA names in honor of “Immediate Past President” each year

2. Members must maintain through donations.

3. Basis of Application

a. The award shall be given to a person enrolled or one to be enrolled, in a dietetic or related program, e.g., MBA, MPH, etc., within the State of Alabama. 

b. It is preferred that the award be given to a student that is an Alabama resident by birth. 

c. ​ The selection shall be determined by:

First Rank:  Professional Potential

Second Rank:  Academic Achievement

Third Rank: Financial Need

All Scholarships

1. Priority will be given to meritorious applicants who have not previously received an ALDA scholarship.

2. Application materials

a. Application form

b. The official computed cumulative grade point average (all post-secondary work related to Dietetics) should be stated on the application and must be authenticated by a faculty member.

c. Letter of application including statements relating to financial need, immediate and future goals, leadership activities and personal attributes such as initiation and motivation for meeting physical, emotional and family demands as well as graduate school requirements.

d. Resume including personal contact data, education, honors and awards, involvement in clubs and organizations including offices held, professional leadership activities and work on volunteer experience.

3. BASIS FOR SELECTION

a. A scale ranking the following will be used for an objective selection

c. Potential for field of Dietetics and Nutrition ascertained by, for example: Leadership in activities within and outside school, professional interest, honors, activities and work or volunteer experience

d. Financial Need
