Full Job Description JOB SUMMARY If you are looking for a rewarding role in public health, then this opportunity may be for you. The WIC (Women, Infants & Children) program is the third largest supplemental nutrition program in the U.S. and it provides funding for food, health care services, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children up to age 5. In 2020 the WIC program served about 6.2 million participants per month, including almost half of all infants born in the U.S. The Registered Dietitian will be responsible for administering the WIC program, submitting required reports, evaluating and assigning risk criteria to clients, conducting 1-on-1 counseling, issuing food packages, and referring individuals to health care services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide nutrition education Evaluates and assign specific nutritional risk criteria Maintain program planning and monitoring participant charts SKILLS Good communication skills, both written and verbal Work well within a team environment Be a self-starter Ability to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures Basic technological proficiency EDUCATION AND REQUIRED CREDENTIALS B.S. degree in Nutrition or related field from an accredited college or university (Required) Registered Dietitian (Required) Licensed in the state of AL (Required) EXPERIENCE Nutrition: 2 years (Preferred) WIC: 1 year (Preferred) LANGUAGE Spanish (Preferred) Work Location: One location (on-site) Job Type: Full-time Compensation: DOE Interested candidates please send your resume and cover letter to: alicia.rodrigo-miller@hservinc.org
